Backwards Toyota: wire harness connector from ECU to ASV swapped

This bulletin provides diagnostic information for 2012 Toyota Tacoma vehicles equipped with the 1GR-FE 4.0L engine, regarding the secondary air injection system’s air switching valve (ASV). Certain vehicles have an incorrectly configured main engine harness.

 This bulletin applies to Tacoma vehicles produced before the production change effective VINs shown here.

Diagnostic procedure

Diagnose the opposite bank of the secondary air injection system’s air switching valve (ASV) from that indicated by the DTC, as the wire harness connector from the ECU to the ASV was swapped between Bank 1 and Bank 2. When you see a DTC displayed, use a different DTC (the opposite bank DTC) for the diagnosis as shown below.
