Broken headphone jack?

This bulletin applies to 2011 and later Honda Odyssey and 2006 and later Pilot vehicles, equipped with RES (rear entertainment system). This bulletin applies to 2011 and later Honda Odyssey and 2006 and later Pilot vehicles, equipped with RES (rear entertainment system). If the dash lights are out and the fuse for the illumination, interior or tail light circuits is blown or intermittently blows, check the RES auxiliary jack assembly. Your customer’s headphone jack might have broken off in the headphone connector.

When the jack from another pair of headphones is inserted, it drives the jack piece deep into the assembly. The broken jack piece can intermittently bridge the printed circuit board terminals in the assembly, causing a short and a blown fuse.

To check for this, pry out the assembly and unplug its connector. Shake the assembly. If you hear a loud rattle, chances are good that a jack piece (or other foreign object) is stuck inside, requiring replacement of the RES auxiliary jack assembly.
