Bump-start problem
2007-2013 Cadillac Escalades; Chevy Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Sierra and Yukon models are equipped with a computer-controlled cranking system (also known as Bump-Start).
If the ignition key is turned to the Start position and then released, the engine begins to crank and will continue to crank for a few seconds or until the engine starts. Some owners may comment that this feature is inoperative.
When the Low Fuel warning lamp is on and/or the FUEL LEVEL LOW message is displayed in the driver information center, the computer-controlled cranking system will be disabled.
This is normal and no repairs should be made. Advise the owner that the fuel level must be adequate for the system to operate.
