In order to reduce friction and improve durability, a change was made to the transfer gear roller bearings in the Subaru 5MT. affected vehicles include 2000-2009 Legacy/Outback, 2009 and later Forester and 2005 and later Impreza vehicles equipped with the 5MT.
In order to reduce friction and improve durability, a change was made to the transfer gear roller bearings in the Subaru 5MT. Affected vehicles include 2000-2009 Legacy/Outback, 2009 and later Forester and 2005 and later Impreza vehicles equipped with the 5MT.
These bearings are now available through normal parts channels. Te only additional step when installing these bearings is to pre-lube (soak and work) the roller bearings in GL-5 (75w-90) gear oil prior to installation.
