On Audi vehicles equipped with a V6 engine manufactured within a specific period, the idler roller for the poly V belt can be out of line, resulting in damage to the poly V belt. Affected 2011 vehicles are as listed:

  1. Inspect the poly V belt condition.
  2. Start the engine and observe how the belt runs on the idler roller. If the idler roller is out of line, the poly V belt will wander past the edge of the roller.
  3. Referring to Figure 2, if a = 0-4mm, the full width of the poly V belt is running on the idler roller and no further action is required. If the poly V belt is running over the inner or outer edge of the idler roller, both the idler roller and the poly V belt must be replaced
