This TSB involves a clicking type noise from the front or rear of the vehicle when shifting between reverse and drive or on hard acceleration. The fix involves adding a washer to the wheel drive shaft.

This bulletin applies to several GM vehicles, including 2010-2011 Buick LaCrosse, 2011 Buick Regal, 2008-2011 Cadillac CTS, CTS Wagon and Coupe, 2010-2011 Cadillac SRX, 2010 Chevy Camaro (built prior to June 1, 2009 with any V8 engine or V6 engine with manual transmission; or prior to Febr. 17, 2010, with V6/automatic), 2010-2011 Chevy Equinox, 2011 Chevy Cruze and 2010-2011 GMC Terrain.

A washer is to be added between the front wheel drive shaft and the bearing hub assembly. Note that some vehicles may have been built with this washer. If a washer is already in place, remove and discard, and replace with a new washer. NOTE: Any time the wheel drive shaft is separated from the steering knuckle, the washer must be replaced with a new washer.

  1. Remove the front wheel bearing and hub assembly. Install the washer onto the front wheel drive shaft as shown in Figure 1. NOTE: For Cruze, Equinox and Terrain, DO NOT reuse the wheel drive shaft nut. Replace with a new nut.
  2. Install the front wheel bearing and hub assembly. Repeat for the opposite side.

If the clicking noise applies to a CTS or Camaro, customers may complain that the noise is coming from the rear of the vehicle. Add a washer between the rear wheel drive shaft and the bearing hub assembly using the same procedure.
