Crummy chrome cladding
Some 2008 Ford Edge and MKX vehicles equipped with 20-inch chrome clad wheels may exhibit a popping/snapping noise while turning at speeds lower than 10 mph. The noise may be caused by the chrome cladding that attaches to the rim.
Verify the source of the noise. If the chrome cladding is verified as the source, replace the wheel(s) with updated service parts.
Lubricate the remaining wheels at the outboard wheel flange, between the cladding and the wheel surface. Use Motorcraft Silicone Spray Lubricant (or equivalent) and apply using a nozzle extension. Clean off any excess lubricant with a soft cloth.
