Four students will receive scholarships of $2,500 to contribute to the costs of round-trip travel from their permanent address to the internship location, lodging, utilities and food.

The Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) and the Auto Care Association have selected the 2016 recipients of the Auto Care Internship Scholarship. Four students will receive scholarships of $2,500 to contribute to the costs of round-trip travel from their permanent address to the internship location, lodging, utilities and food. This program was designed to provide financial support for students pursuing internships across the country to gain valuable, real-world education in a variety of auto care industry careers.

The 2016 recipients are:

  • Alesandra D’Agostino, Livonia, Mich., attends Northwood University and is interning at Bosch in Broadview, Ill.
  • Brenna Murphy, Midland, Mich., attends Northwood University and is interning at Bosch in Broadview, Ill.
  • Ryan Thurston, Midland, Mich., attends Northwood University and is interning at KYB in San Diego, Calif.
  • Yimin Wu, Jiangsu, China, attends Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa and is interning at GCommerce in Des Moines, Iowa.

“We are excited to have a Grinnell student receive the Auto Care Internship Scholarship for the second year in a row and join our team in Des Moines for the summer,” said Steve Smith, president and CEO, GCommerce. “Exceptional students, such as Yimin Wu, are the future of innovative technology, and advances in technology are critical to the future of the auto care industry.”

The Auto Care Internship Scholarship allows students to gain auto care industry experience and alleviates the financial burden of being far from home.

Scholarship recipients were chosen by a selection committee that includes members of AWDA, the Auto Care Association Education Committee and the Young Auto Care Network Group (YANG) Advisory Council.

AWDA segment community members that currently have an internship program should encourage eligible students to apply for this scholarship. For more information, and the application, visit www.autocarecareers.org or email[email protected]
