Subaru announces training test-out program through ASE
Subaru of America has partnered with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) to deliver specially developed tests that, if passed, will allow Subaru retailer technicians to opt-out of specific Subaru training courses.
In response to the interests of the Subaru Retailer Council, the Subaru Technical Training Department developed special tests that are designed to measure the same technical competencies associated with several Subaru Level 2 instructor-led training programs. The tests cover the knowledge of fundamentals in diagnosis and repair in the following five specialty areas:
- Engines
- Transmissions
- Fuel Systems
- Electrical Systems
- Brake Systems
Subaru technicians who have not completed Subaru Level 2 instructor-led training can take one or all of the tests. Those who pass will be credited with Level 2 competency in that specialty area. Technicians who don’t pass a test will need to complete the corresponding Subaru instructor-led training class.
To ensure security and reliability, Subaru has partnered with ASE to deliver the tests.
Technicians can register for these tests by logging into the Subaru SKILS system. Within 10 business days, ASE will send a confirmation email informing technicians to schedule testing during the next 90 days at any of ASE's nearly 500 test centers nationwide.
Additionally, Subaru technicians may purchase ASE certification tests and schedule an appointment to take them in conjunction with the Subaru tests. This can save the technician both time and money.
