Aug. 30: deadline for Arizona Tech Day early registration

Aug. 29, 2013
Arizona Tech Day and Cookout to be Oct. 12 in Phoenix.

There’s still time to take advantage of an early-bird discount for ASA of Arizona’s Tech Day and Cookout coming up in October, according to the Automotive Service Association. But hurry: Before Aug. 30, the cost is $245 for class, handouts, lunch and the cookout. After Aug. 30, the cost will be $295.

The training class will be held Oct. 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cookout will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Phoenix Airport.

The class will focus on learning how network topography (design and construction) can be used to isolate network communication failures.

John Riggle will be the speaker. He will present information that is vital for technicians to know. As automakers continue adding features and options to vehicles, thereby increasing the complexity of onboard networks, it’s harder than ever for technicians to diagnose symptoms and faults related to network communication failures.

Part 1 of the class will identify and help techs understand terms and definitions of network hardware and construction. Part 2 will be devoted to Controller Area Networks (CAN). Part 3 will focus on “CAN in the Real World, Waveforms and Lab Scopes: Disturbing Nodes, Software Faults, ‘Babbling’ Nodes, Hardware Faults, and Interconnect Faults (EMI and RFI).” Part 4 will concentrate on “Applications for specific OEM Versions and Case Studies, including scan tool usage, DTC’s, U Codes and what U Codes mean, pinpoint testing, isolation and verification.”

A room at the Hilton Garden Inn may be reserved by calling (602) 470-0500. A room will cost $79. ASA-Arizona has asked the hotel to block off rooms for the event, but there is a limited number, which must be reserved early.

For more information, visit www.asaaz.org or contact Luz A. Rubio, ASA-Arizona executive director, at (602) 544-2600 or [email protected].
