Mitchell 1 Expands Support to State Technician Skills Competitions

May 9, 2012
Mitchell 1 programs will be utilized in competitions being held in Tennessee, California, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Maine, and Arkansas.

In 2012, Mitchell 1 will expand support to an increased number of individual state SuperTech skills competitions by supplying test questions and temporary access to Tractor-Trailer.net that will measure a technician's ability to use computer-based manuals to diagnose and fix trucks and trailers. This year, Mitchell 1 programs will be utilized in competitions being held in Tennessee, California, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Maine, and Arkansas. Mitchell 1 also conducts Service Information Skills testing each year at the Technology and Maintenance Council Annual SuperTech Competition held in September.

"Each year, Mitchell 1 test questions and programs are increasingly used at state competitions to measure technician skills in an environment dominated by computer information tools," said Dave Costantino, Director Commercial Vehicle Group for Mitchell 1. "Since our programs cover diagnostics and repairs for all-makes, they offer a level playing field for technicians regardless of the brand of truck or trailer they are responsible for fixing."

The Service Information Skills stations, as supported by Mitchell 1, test competitors on their abilities to use on-line repair information to diagnose and fix maintenance problems they are likely to encounter in their jobs. For 2012 State SuperTech competitions, Mitchell 1 will test competitors using their Tractor-Trailer.net program which compiles in one place all the maintenance information necessary to fix virtually any heavy truck produced after 1990.  Mitchell 1 programs are increasingly being included as part of truck technician vocational school curriculums to train technicians how to use the most up dated tools available when they graduate.

Mitchell 1's Tractor-Trailer.net, Medium-Truck.net and Repair-Connect.net together have all the information required to diagnose and repair all makes of Class 4 -8 vehicles, including trailers.
