TST training event: drivability, fuel trip issues and PCs

March 13, 2014
Training to address fuel trip problems, drivability and using the PC on March 22.

Technicians Service Training (TST) will host its 11th annual tech training event on Saturday, March 22, from 8 AM to 6 PM at the Ramada Conference Center in Fishkill, N.Y.

The training event will include three course topics: "Understanding, Diagnosing and Repairing Fuel Trip Problems," by Bernie Thompson; "Drivability and Transability -- Real World Tips for Proper Diagnosis and Repairs," by Wayne Colonna; and "Leveraging Your PC for the Automotive Service Professional," by Scott Brown. These courses will be followed by keynote speaker Pete Meier.

The first course will teach a technician the basics of fuel injection systems, how to troubleshoot drivability problems and new and efficient ways to repair vehicles. Thompson, the instructor, owns a 10-bay repair facility in Albuquerque, N.M., has over 30 years of hands-on experience, and is president of Automotive Test Solutions.

The second course will focus on tips from the Automatic Transmission Service Group (ATSG) and how to diagnose and repair transmission- and driveability-related problems. Colonna is president and technical supervisor at ATSG and is an author and a technical writer.

The final course will address tools and techniques technicians will need to utilize their PCs and test results. Brown has worked in the automotive industry  since the early 1980s, has organized the first online automotive waveform databases on CompuServe, and has remained an instrumental resource in the development of the International Automotive technicians' Network (iATN), where he is company president.

The cost is $250 for members and $325 for non-members. Three manuals, food and a tool raffle are included in the price of this event.
