Report: SAF-Holland makes offer to purchase Haldex for $495 million

SAF-Holland SA offered $495 million to buy Haldex AB, according to a recent report from Bloomberg. The deal means the two truck-making suppliers could work together to help match mechanical parts with sensors and electronic components as commercial vehicles increasingly link up to the Internet.

Haldex said it’s considering the unsolicited offer and has also found itself on the receiving end of a “credible non-binding proposal” from a third party.

Haldex’s board will respond to SAF’s offer no later than two weeks before the Aug. 24 end of the acceptance period, the Stockholm-based company said in a recent statement. It hasn’t received the terms of the other offer, and there’s no certainty one will be made, Haldex added in the stateme
