U.S. to assist China with implementing stricter emissions standards

After VP Joe Biden's visit to China last week, the U.S. will agree to provide China with assistance to implement the fourth round of vehicle emissions standards, known as China IV.

After VP Joe Biden's visit to China last week, the U.S. will agree to provide China with assistance to implement the fourth round of vehicle emissions standards, known as China IV. 

A plan to control greenhouse gas emissions has been accelerated with issues pertaining to smog in urban areas. 

The China IV standards would cap the allowed sulfur content at 50 parts per million next year, down from current levels of 350 parts per million.

This is compared to the U.S., which allows a sulfur content of 15 parts per million, and the European Union which allows diesel fuel to have a sulfur content of 10 parts per million.
