Q: How did the tool function as far as saving you time?
A: The 14-pc Micro Hand Tool Set from Mayhew Tools saved me time by providing the essential precision drivers and must-haves in one convenient set. This allowed me to get the more detailed, small-scale tasks completed on the first attempt with ease. In other words, it eliminated the frustration that would have resulted from trying to clumsily use bigger tools on precision work.
Q: How has using this tool impacted your shop's profitability?
A: This tool set has made our shop more profitable by saving me valuable time on most jobs throughout the day as described above.
Q: What kind of setup was involved before using the product?
A: No setup needed. Simply unbox and it's ready for use.
Q: How easy was it to use?
A: These precision tools were very easy to use.
Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?
A: Packaging was sufficient. The set came in a paper box. No accessories, but does include a well-crafted foam organizer tray.
Q: Was there a manual included? If so, did you use the manual, and was the manual easy to understand?
A: No manual was included, but the use of these tools did not require explanation.
Q: What features did you like?
A: I liked the foam, flag-themed storage tray. It made it easy to recognize at the end of the day if one of the tools in the set was missing.
Q: Is there any way you could think to improve or add to this tool?
A: Perhaps one or two more precision tools could be added to the set. A small spoon-tip seal removal tool would be a worthy addition. Also, adding pocket clips to some of the tools included in this set (Phillips/slotted screwdrivers and pocket prybars) would be a convenient feature.
Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for?
A: I used the picks in this set for removing O-rings from oil filter housings as well as for removing the seal that helps secure valve stems to TPMS sensors. I used the flathead screwdrivers and angled pry bar to aid in disconnecting electrical connectors. I could see the precision Torx being useful down the road for the fasteners in side-view mirrors.
Q: Have you used a previous version of this tool? How does this tool compare to other tools you’ve used like it?
A: I have not used a previous version of the Mayhew version of this tool. I have used the Snap-on Instinct grip small picks (SGASA204CO) and small Channellock branded Torx screwdrivers (TP5A). The quality of the Mayhew set is on par with the other brands.
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate this tool overall?
A: I would rate this tool a 9.5. I like how comprehensive the set is; it provides the most commonly used precision tools in one place. Rating it 9.5 instead of 10, as I'm not sure how well the black oxide finish will hold up over time (i.e. rust if exposed to water).
