Clint Shelton started working for a Michigan Firestone 24 years ago as a front-end alignment technician. He has since worked his way to lead technician.
His 84 Series blue Cornwell box stands 11’ long by 70” high by 32” deep and is comprised of a main box, a hutch and two side lockers. In addition to the main box, Shelton has a Cornwell tool cart which allows him mobile access around the shop.
Shelton has had the main box and the hutch for four years. He knew that he was going to upgrade at the time of initial purchase, so when it was time, he added on to his box with the two side lockers.
As the lead technician for Bridgestone/Firestone, Shelton performs all types of vehicle repairs. “We do work on everything from tires to engine performance,” he says.
His box holds an array of tools from screwdrivers to scan tools, welders, plasma cutters, pullers, and more. “I’ve been doing this for 24 years so I’ve accumulated a lot of tools.”
Shelton’s box goes a long way to help keep him organized. He says, “I try to keep everything as organized as possible because if you’re looking for something, you’re not working.”
He adds, “The faster you can grab your tool, the faster you can get back to the job.”
Shelton’s favorite parts of his toolbox are the size, storage options and depth of drawers. “You can store a lot in the lockers.” He says, “In the one I have a plasma cutter, in the other, I have a welder and more.”
