Inspect the rear axle flange for corrosion/rust buildup. If present, use a wire brush to clean. Measure the diameter of the axle flange boss using a dial or digital caliper. Take measurements in at least three clock positions. The specification is 4.252 – 4.250 inches (108.000 – 107.946 mm). If out of spec, replace the axle.
Use a caliper to measure flange boss diameter, in at least three locations to verify an accurate measurement.
