Cadillac Says Flip the Clip

Nov. 23, 2020

Some owners of 2014-2019 Cadillac CTS vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine may comment that the low oil light is on.

Some owners of 2014-2019 Cadillac CTS vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine may comment that the low oil light is on.

This condition may be caused by the oil level sensor wiring harness clip installed incorrectly, causing the harness to become too long and contact the driveshaft.

With a suitable light, inspect the wiring harness point of contact at the driveshaft and positioning of the clip. The original routing of the harness may have the clip being installed from the bottom.

Correct this by reversing the clip,  installing the clip from the top. Using woven polyester electrical tape, tape all the contact points of the harness, ensuring that the tape is applied in a double layer.

Verify harness to driveshaft clearance and adjust as needed.
