Toyota has recalled 126,691 Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to a potential engine failure issue stemming from manufacturing debris contamination, the company announced on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

The recall affects 113,079 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra models, 9,895 2022-2024 Lexus LX vehicles, and 3,717 2024 Lexus GX models equipped with V35A engines. According to Toyota, machining debris may not have been adequately cleared from engines during the production process, possibly contaminating the engine assembly and causing main bearing failure.

According to USA Today reports, the defect could lead to engine stalls or loss of drive power, which increases crash risk. Toyota said the issue represents an extension of a May 2024 recall (NTHSA number 24V381) that affected 102,092 vehicles.

Toyota will provide free repairs once a solution is finalized. The company notified dealers on November 6 and plans to contact vehicle owners between December 22 and January 5 with repair details.
