LAS VEGAS — Charles Sanville, a Volkswagen dealer technician, has made a name for himself as the Humble Mechanic, sharing service repair tips, DIY videos and more on YouTube.

Sanville, far right, talks to visitors at the CRP Automotive booth at AAPEX 2015.

He uses horror stories, diagnostic challenges and more from his bays to bring information on servicing mostly VW and European brand vehicles available to anyone online. He also discusses the business side — how to make money on flat rate, the ins and outs of becoming a technician, and how to go about getting into the business.

“I started out at the bottom and worked very hard to become successful and skilled,” Sanville said during an appearance at CRP Automotive’s booth at AAPEX 2015. Sanville also pushes viewer participation. “I encourage viewer questions, interaction, and most of all having fun while doing your job.”

CRP Automotive began sponsoring Sanville’s videos about 6 months ago, in support of their shared focus on continued education and training.
