"The finished street rod displayed here is the culmination of a truly interactive experience," said Amanda Smales, vice-president of marketing for Snap-on tools. "Webcams, blogs and video episodes engaged technicians and enthusiasts and allowed them to take part in this one-of-a-kind project," she said. "This street rod wasn't just built by Snap-on Tools. It was built by a community (of people)who share a passion for cars and creativity."
The Glo-mad, whose suspension arms were fabricated out of Snap-on wrenches and sockets, also features an LCD screen that has been integrated into a Snap-on tool storage unit in the rear cargo area. The Glo-mad also features power-operated, rear-hinged (suicide) doors and a supercharged, intercooled and nitrous oxide equipped LS7 engine.
The rear tailgate features a polished stainless steel Snap-on logo that lights up when the brakes are applied. Glo-mad also features Dr. Neon's signature neon lighting and a white interior. Snap-on provided lots of special 14mm wrenches with the word Snap-on stamped into both sides. Even the grille of the Glo-mad features bent and curved Snap-on wrenches.
Glo-mad was constructed in Asheville, North Carolina.
