In an effort to support those in medical need from the aftermath caused by the ammonium nitrate explosion in Beirut, Lebanon on August 4, Automotive Parts Associates (APA) has made a financial contribution to Doctors Without Borders.

“Regardless of the situation, the aftermarket industry is a world-wide community and the impact of catastrophic events like the explosion in Beirut affects us all including those we consider a part of the APA family. By contributing funds to Doctors Without Borders we are able to directly help those in need of first-aid and surgical care,” said Douglas Squires, APA Chairman.

With hospitals already overwhelmed with rising COVID-19 cases, the explosion created a chaotic situation for the Lebanese health care system, as patients flooded in with head and chest injuries sustained from the blast and subsequent shattered glass. As many people are still struggling to access treatment a week later in some Beirut communities, Doctors Without Borders are supporting the medical system by serving patients with injuries and those in need of mental health care.
