SAE International announced today that its electric vehicle journal, SAE International Journal of Alternative Powertrains, will now be titled SAE International Journal of Electrified Vehicles. Along with a new name, the journal will be led by a new editor-in-chief, Simona Onori, Ph.D., Stanford University.
As the powertrains of today's vehicles move to a much higher degree of electrification, the journal's new name will offer a platform where researchers from academic institutions, industrial organizations, and government agencies can share their findings, new technologies and innovative designs, present advanced controls, and optimize methods to improve efficiency and performance of components and sub-systems of electrified vehicles.
"Today, the advances in lithium-ion battery technologies, their cost reduction, and the commitment from automakers to decarbonize the transportation sector have led to a paradigm shift on the previous outlook of alternative powertrains and how they were conceived," said Kimberly Martin, editorial director, Journals & Technical Papers. "As we make this shift with the industry, we are excited to have Dr. Onori as our new editor-in-chief and we look forward to the innovative thought leadership she will deliver to our readers."
Dr. Onori earned her Ph.D. in Control Engineering from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata," her M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of New Mexico, and Laurea Degree, summa cum laude, in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata." In 2017, she became an assistant professor at the Energy Resources Engineering Department at Stanford University and holds a courtesy appointment in Electrical Engineering. Her research interests are in sustainable transportation and clean energy with a focus on hybrid and electric propulsions systems and their components, emission mitigation devices, and grid-storage systems.
The June issue of SAE International Journal of Electrified Vehicles is now available on SAE MOBILUS. Content from previous years is available online at https://saemobilus.sae.org/content/V125-8EJ?tabType=publishedvolumes.
