Brembo continues its initiative of developing and providing brake facts for each of the 16 races on the Verizon IndyCar Series calendar. Brembo enters its fourth consecutive season as the exclusive brake supplier of the Verizon IndyCar Series. This weekend IndyCar heads to Lexington, Ohio, for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.

IndyCar continues to compete at one of America's most rhythmic, rolling-hilled, permanent road courses. Mid-Ohio is a very smooth track, making aerodynamic efficiency and vehicle platform control very important.

Crossing the start-finish line, the drivers face one of the toughest challenges on the track, Turn 1, a near flat-out, left-hand turn. The circuit then runs uphill towards the biggest braking zone on the track entering Turn 2. This is the best passing opportunity on the track. The drivers then encounter the longest straight on the track before the second toughest braking zone on the circuit and passing zone, Turn 4. This braking zone leads into a long section where the drivers reach a nice rhythm with the car and track, cresting hills and light braking to stabilize the platform of the car. Turn 9, also known as Thunder Valley for the sound the cars make through the hills, is a very tricky approach. The cars will enter at high speeds and travel up a hill turning in with a very slight brake application to help settle the car. At the apex of Turn 9, the drivers crest the hill and the road falls away very quickly causing a loss of traction on exit making it almost a dance with the throttle and steering wheel. The key to a quick lap time at Mid-Ohio is having a well-balanced car, quick reacting brakes for the driver to settle the platform, and a relaxed driver to get into the tracks rhythm.

Brembo has developed a dedicated IndyCar site within the official Brembo website. In addition to technical data relative to the braking points of each circuit, this dedicated section also offers race fans countless other fascinating facts about the braking systems created for IndyCar race cars. www.indycar.brembo.com.

The 2015 season marks the 40th Anniversary of Brembo’s first entry into motorsports. Brembo supplied its first racing brake system to Ferrari in 1975 in the Formula One World Championship. Since then, the Italian company has invested heavily in research and development of highly innovative and technological products.
