Agricultural trailer manufacturer adopts electronic braking systems.

WABCO Holdings Inc., a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, announced that it supplies trailer electronic braking systems (T-EBS) with its roll stability support function (RSS) to Krone, a leading European manufacturer of agricultural trailers and machinery, and winner of an Agritechnica 2011 Innovation Award. Recently held in Hanover, Germany, Agritechnica is the world’s largest exhibition for agricultural machinery and equipment.

Krone has applied WABCO T-EBS with RSS trailer technologies to the special conditions of agricultural trailers, thus advancing the braking safety of farm trailers and further stabilizing the tractor-trailer combination by selectively braking the trailer’s individual sides.

“We are proud to win a prestigious Medal for Innovation at Agritechnica 2011, and we value WABCO’s contribution to Krone’s technology leadership in our segment of the trailer industry,” said Hermann Jörgens, Head of Brake Systems at Krone Agriculture. “With WABCO’s advanced braking, roll-over control and stability technologies for trailers, Krone continues to improve vehicle safety, particularly as agricultural transport units become even larger and faster.”

“Winning an Agritechnica Innovation Award demonstrates how Krone continues to set standards for vehicle safety in the growing agricultural segment of the global trailer industry,” said Nick Rens, WABCO Vice President, Trailer Systems and Aftermarket. “WABCO is passionate about advancing vehicle safety and improving driver effectiveness as we leverage our commercial trailer innovations in off-road, specialty markets, thus increasing WABCO content per vehicle as we strive with trailer customers toward zero accidents.”

WABCO’s introduced T-EBS for commercial trailers in 1998 and has maintained its global leadership for this safety technology. T-EBS shortens the braking distance and enables stable steering throughout the braking procedure. It also improves brake wear, thus reducing maintenance cost. As of 2010, WABCO has sold more than one million trailer electronic braking systems and the company’s newest generation features 20 intelligent functions such as TailGUARD, a rear blind-spot-detection system with automatic braking.
