Company consolidates management headquarters, manufacturing and R&D functions

Proterra Inc, a leading maker of zero-emission commercial transit solutions, announced last Thursday that the company is consolidating all operations and management to Greenville, S.C.  Originally based in Golden, Colo., the shift moves all management and research operations to their Phase 1 EcoRide fast-charge, battery-electric bus manufacturing facility.

“As we continue to evaluate our efficiency and scale operations, we saw value in consolidation – bringing all operational components of our company under one roof,” said David Bennett, newly announced CEO for Proterra.

The move brought an additional set of advanced research and manufacturing jobs to the Upstate of South Carolina as the company works to increase production capacity in their newly expanded manufacturing footprint.

“Building on our commitment to the Upstate community, we are excited to establish a permanent home in Greenville,” said Marc Gottschalk, chief development officer and general counsel for Proterra.  “South Carolina and the Upstate have provided us with an incredible level of support, and we are encouraged that our consolidation will provide long-term synergies, increased efficiency, and continued business growth.”

With its headquarters and manufacturing in Greenville, S.C., Proterra is a leading designer and manufacturer of heavy-duty electric drive systems, energy storage systems, vehicle control systems, transit buses and fast-charging stations. Proterra’s systems are scalable to all forms of commercial buses. Its ground-up designs have led to the EcoRide, the world’s first full-size, 10-minute charge transit bus.
