AVTECC announces partnership with NACAT to support automotive educators

June 26, 2025
The partnership involves multiple collaborations, such as AVTECC's role in NACAT's annual conference.

The International Advanced Vehicle Technology Education and Credentialing Coalition (AVTECC) announced a strategic partnership with the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT). Together, the two organizations aim to enhance support for automotive educators and automotive training programs across the continent.

The partnership will see AVTECC and NACAT collaborating on expanding professional development opportunities with co-hosted training programs, regional and national outreach with coordinated participation in regional conferences and national events, and the NACAT annual conference with AVTECC enhancing the technical training content, delivering sessions focused on educator development and comptency-based certification.

The collaborative model is dedicated to helping automotive educators keep up with and lead industry changes with enhanced training and resources and to helping students by providing them the advanced skills necessary for the workforce.

What people are saying

Vice president of NACAT and automotive technology instructor at Pickens Technical College in Aurora, Colorado, Ed Martin said, “This partnership between NACAT and AVTECC is exactly what our industry needs right now. As an automotive educator, staying current with rapidly evolving vehicle technology can be a challenge along with making sure the student has a hands-on experience. Having access to coordinated training, resources, and certification pathways means I can better prepare my students for the real-world demands of today’s — and tomorrow’s — automotive industry.”

President and CEO of AVTECC David Macholz said, "AVTECC’s foundation is built on the belief that educators are central to the future automotive workforce. This partnership with NACAT reinforces our shared goal of supporting instructors as they prepare students for an advanced automotive industry that will require highly skilled technicians."
