This Week's Recalls: July 6-10

Ford, Kia, Honda, GM, and BMW have issued recalls affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to safety concerns including transmission issues, seat malfunctions, rearview camera failures, and brake system problems. Repairs will be provided free of charge, with owner notifications beginning in late 2026 and early 2027.

Key Highlights

  •  Ford is recalling over 741,000 vehicles due to a transmission valve body issue that may cause unintended vehicle movement and increase crash risk.
  •  Kia's recall of nearly 463,000 Telluride SUVs addresses a seat switch defect that could lead to overheating and fire hazards, with free repairs including electronic fuse installation.
  •  Honda is recalling over 325,000 Odyssey minivans for rearview camera failures caused by water ingress, with free camera replacements scheduled to begin in August 2026.
  •  GM's recall of 14,540 Cadillac VISTIQs targets a third-row seat malfunction that could trap occupants, with free seat module replacements or disabling the feature as interim measures.
  •  BMW is inspecting and replacing integrated brake systems in over 400 vehicles across multiple brands to prevent reduced braking performance and potential crashes, with no reported injuries.

Ford Motor Company

Ford Motor Company is recalling 741,195 vehicles: 82,570 model year 2021 Ford F-150s, 40,197 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviators, 313,147 2020-2021 Ford Explorers, 59,079 2018-2021 Lincoln Navigators and 246,202 2018-2021 Ford Expeditions equipped with park-by-wire functionality and 10R60, 10R80 or 10R80MHT transmissions.

The transmission valve body separator plate may restrict fluid flow to the park valve, causing temporary engagement of the park pawl when certain shifts are commanded and potentially damaging the park system. As a result, an affected vehicle may move after the driver shifts into Park.

Although the vehicles have roll-away detection that automatically applies the electric parking brake when movement is detected, the Powertrain Control Module may not be awake after the vehicle has been powered down and may fail to detect movement, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Ford is aware of 24 allegations of property damage and nine alleged injuries, two involving emotional injury, related to the condition.

Dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module software and inspect the transmission for park-system damage, replacing damaged components as necessary, at no charge. Interim owner-notification letters are expected to mail beginning Aug. 3, 2026, with remedy notifications to follow in phases in the second quarter of 2027. The recall is being conducted under NHTSA Campaign ID 26V402 (Ford recall 26S48).

Kia America

Kia America, Inc. is recalling 462,869 model year 2020–2024 Kia Telluride vehicles. An external impact with excessive force to the front power-seat side cover and/or seat slide knob may cause the power-seat switch to become dislodged, internally misaligned or otherwise damaged. A misaligned or damaged switch, or an improper repair performed under prior recall 24V407, may lead to continuous operation of a seat motor, which over time can cause the motor to overheat and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked. Warning signs may include the seat slide knob sticking or the seat continuing to move after the knob is released, a burning or melting smell, and/or smoke from underneath the seat. Dealers will install an electronic fuse assembly to prevent continuous seat-motor operation if the switch becomes dislodged, misaligned or damaged, free of charge. Owners are advised to park outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the repair is performed. This recall supersedes recall 24V407 and is being conducted under NHTSA Campaign ID 26V430 (Kia recall SC374).

American Honda Motor Co.

American Honda Motor Co. is recalling 325,588 model year 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles. Water can enter the rearview camera assembly and corrode the printed circuit board, causing the rearview camera image to fail to display when the vehicle is in reverse. Reduced rearward visibility increases the risk of a crash or injury. The condition stems from an inadequate camera-housing boss-hole specification and possible mounting-screw misalignment during assembly, which can crack the housing boss and allow water to penetrate the assembly over time. The recall population includes vehicles previously addressed under NHTSA Campaign No. 20V-438 and certain 2018 model-year vehicles addressed through a prior product update; both earlier remedies used redesigned Magna cameras, which will now be replaced with Sony rearview cameras, free of charge. Owner notification is scheduled to begin on or about August 24, 2026. The recall is being conducted under NHTSA Campaign ID 26V423 (Honda recall HOX).

General Motors

General Motors, LLC is recalling 14,540 model year 2026–2027 Cadillac VISTIQ vehicles. The third-row seatbacks can be commanded to power-fold into the stowed position with a single press-and-release of the “down” control button in the cargo area or on the adjacent pillar, and the seatback stops without automatically reversing if it encounters an obstruction. As a result, smaller occupants could become trapped under the seatback, increasing the risk of injury. During evaluation, a seatback continued folding with a 33- to 40-pound box on the seat and stopped in a position that prevented the box from being removed without manually reversing the seat. GM is aware of six other incidents or complaints potentially associated with the condition, none of which resulted in injury. Dealers will replace the folding third-row seat module, free of charge; until replacement parts are available, owners who wish to do so may have the third-row folding feature disabled. The recall is being conducted under NHTSA Campaign ID 26V394 (GM recall N262555780).

BMW of North America, LLC

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling 428 vehicles across the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands — including the 2025 MINI Cooper S and Countryman S ALL4; 2023–2025 BMW X1, X2, X5, X6, X7, 5 Series, i5, 7 Series, i7, 750e xDrive and XM; and the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre — that may have received an earlier integrated brake (IB) system recall remedy (under recalls 24V104 and 24V739) that was not performed in accordance with specified procedures. As a result, the integrated brake system may not function to specification and a reduction in power assist could occur, and the Antilock Brake System and Dynamic Stability Control may not function. Fully mechanical braking remains available to slow and stop the vehicle, and the parking brake would automatically activate to aid stability, but the condition could lead to extended stopping distances and affected handling, increasing the risk of a crash. A warning lamp and message illuminate in the instrument cluster if the condition occurs. BMW is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. The recall is being conducted under NHTSA Campaign ID 26V422.
