VT Hackney, Inc., a company of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), will ramp up the production of its Kidron insulated and refrigerated truck bodies by more than 50 percent annually with its recently opened production facility in Kansas. Encompassing 70,000 square feet in its 28-acre manufacturing site at Independence, the newly added facility provides the company with the capacity to produce more than 2,000 insulated and refrigerated truck bodies annually.
Completed in less than a year with hard work and dedication from company employees, the new plant delivers Kidron’s ColdShield system, the latest technology used at the plant. ColdShield is a total temperature management solution available exclusively in Kidron’s refrigerated distribution truck bodies and trailers. A critical component of ColdShield is a state-of-the-art foaming system which enables Kidron truck bodies to protect refrigerated products by holding cold temperatures longer.
Approximately 250 people attended the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Kidron production facility on July 12, 2012 including employees, local business representatives, state and local leaders, and company executives. During the event, State Senator Jeff King and local political leaders praised the cooperation among the state, local economic developers and VT Hackney.
