DIRECTUS appoints MITO Corporation exclusive distributor

DIRECTUS (a Tatmar Technologies Company, an industry leader and innovator in 12-volt automotive and mobile electronics, has announced the appointment of MITO Corporation as the exclusive aftermarket distributor for the Prodigy One system combined with the Gentex auto-dimming Rear Camera Display (RCD) Mirror for automotive retailers and service providers throughout the North America marketplace.

With this appointment, MITO Corporation will begin supplying DIRECTUS Prodigy One systems bundled with Gentex RCD mirror systems (or just the Prodigy One with a harness for customers with existing RCD mirrors) to retailers, dealers and expeditors throughout North America.

The Prodigy Series of systems is the first multifunctional automotive plug and play device that brings navigation, safety and entertainment into one device, utilizing the capable Windows CE operating system. The Prodigy One allows you to have a single navigation, media and information source within a small, compact unit, that integrates easily into many OEM and entertainment aftermarket radio or mirror display systems.

DIRECTUS released the Prodigy One Series at the 2010 SEMA show, winning the coveted "SEMA Best New Mobile Electronics Product" award for 2011.

"This is a natural combination - the Prodigy One and RCD mirrors - because why would you look anyplace other than the rearview mirror for this type of information display?" said Marvin Metzler, MITO vice president. "The mirror is a logical, intuitive and ergonomic location to view navigation information and rear camera video.”

Prodigy One allows the system to work with both aftermarket RCD mirror systems offered by MITO/Gentex, as well as the ability to be quickly added to customers who already have RCD mirrors in their vehicles. The Prodigy One also integrates with several OEM automotive head unit systems such as those on Volvo, Nissan, Toyota and VW.

"Prodigy One, bundled with Gentex RCD mirrors, will bring a whole new level of functionality to customers that want an OEM rearview mirror, but also need the functionality that the DIRECTUS system offers," stated Chapple.

The Prodigy One/MITO/Gentex system will be in stock in January of 2011. The kit will be available in several stand-alone or mirror-kit combinations that include the newly released Gentex 3.3" widescreen RCD mirror and various versions of the very popular Gentex 3.5" RCD mirror.

These new mirror kits allow customers to upgrade their vehicles without removing the radio while maintaining original OEM specifications.

All interior mirrors sold by MITO have Gentex's auto-dimming function that utilizes proprietary electrochromic technology to eliminate headlamp glare from trailing vehicles. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.

The mirrors are manufactured by Gentex Corporation, the world leader in automatic-dimming mirrors - and are the same original equipment mirrors used by automakers around the world.
