Bendix earns Product Leadership of the Year Award

June 14, 2011
From Frost & Sullivan

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of leading-edge active safety and braking system technologies, is the recipient of the Frost & Sullivan 2011 North American Product Leadership of the Year Award in the Commercial Vehicle Safety Systems Market.

Recognizing Bendix for its pioneering efforts in the North American advanced commercial vehicle safety technology market, Frost & Sullivan is honoring Bendix specifically for the company’s Bendix Wingman Advanced – A Collision Mitigation Technology. Bendix Wingman Advanced, an evolution of the company’s Bendix Wingman ACB – Active Cruise with Braking technology, delivers adaptive cruise control with braking features, along with collision mitigation technology. The Wingman technology was launched at the 2009 Mid-America Trucking Show. The system builds upon the company’s full-stability technology – Bendix ESP (Electronic Stability Program) – providing fleets with a system that can help drivers in collision, rollover, and loss-of-control situations.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.

In determining the Product Leadership of the Year Award, Frost & Sullivan measured products against five benchmarking criteria: features and functionality, innovation, acceptance in the marketplace, customer value enhancements, and quality. According to Frost & Sullivan, the Bendix Wingman Advanced system earned the award because it takes the integrated safety systems market to the next level by combining three critical active safety technologies – electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control with braking, and forward collision mitigation braking and warning – into a single unit.

Among the innovative technologies differentiating Bendix Wingman Advanced from similar solutions, Frost & Sullivan cites full-stability control offered by the Bendix ESP platform and stationary object detection. Currently, only Bendix offers stationary object alerts as part of its adaptive cruise control with braking and collision mitigation technologies. The Bendix Wingman Advanced technology, Frost & Sullivan believes, will drive growth for the total North American commercial vehicle integrated safety systems market.

“Bendix is honored to receive this prestigious award from Frost & Sullivan,” said Kevin Romanchok, product line director – electronics at Bendix. “We believe the Bendix Wingman Advanced solution is the latest step forward in commercial vehicle safety. It further demonstrates the company’s commitment to the safety of our nation’s roadways, while delivering cost-effective, active safety solutions that help fleets and drivers, especially in the current CSA environment.”

Bendix Wingman Advanced – collision mitigation technology and Bendix ESP – full-stability technology are designed to complement safe driving pactices. No commercial vehicle safety technology replaces the most important safety components of all – a safe, alert driver practicing safe driving techniques and proactive, comprehensive driver training.
