All tools and equipment, all the time

Aug. 4, 2016
Reader feedback is crucial to ensuring the editorial team provides useful content.

Every spring we issue a survey to our readers requesting feedback on the content we feature in PTEN. At the end of the survey, readers have the option to provide direct, free-form feedback on why they read the magazine.

While receiving this feedback is crucial, it can sometimes be hard to come by. Let's face it, you and I both lead busy lives; so sometimes its hard to take the extra few minutes to give additional feedback. I do receive the occasional reader emails or phone calls, but it can be challenging to hear from all of you, all the time.

But every now and then, we have the opportunity to hear from you in droves. It's good to be acknowledged for the job we do, but also know where we could improve.  While gathering the product information, article content and working with contributors to get this content out to you is no small feat; it's rewarding to know we're making a difference with your business.

The comments also attest to the content we have in PTEN: all tools and equipment, all the time. Tools and equipment are the lifeblood to any vehicle repair shop. In addition to that, I've heard time and again that we've got a few tool-obsessed techs and shop owners who read our publication. Here are a few snippets:

"I love this publication because I'm a tool junkie."

"Always being a tool nut, I really enjoy your magazine."

"I enjoy reading and looking at the new tools on the market."

"Love that PTEN keeps me up to date on the newest tools and equipment."

"I'm always on the lookout for new, innovative products that can make our jobs easier -- anything from small hand tools to large shop equipment. PTEN helps me find those new items."

"As always, PTEN is filled with the best of the best in tools and remains on top of the latest and greatest in tools and tech ideas. Keep up the good work!"

"I like reading the magazine to see what new tools are available."

"Always looking for ways to make my shop more productive. By far, PTEN is my first read and most looked-forward-to."

"It helps me to decide which tools to buy."

Readers also specifically called out the Top 10 Tools (page xx) and Big-Time Boxes (page xx) sections as go-to sections when they receive the magazine.

That being said; whenever you solicit feedback, you have to be ready for the good and bad. This survey also provided some honest, genuine feedback on areas we could improve as well. And that's what I hope to do.

If you have a few minutes, please drop me a line or give me a call. I'm always interested in knowing what you like about PTEN, and areas where we could improve.
