Selling scan tools

Aug. 29, 2012
Some strategies to employ when selling scan tools.

Jason sometimes goes into shops with a scan tool in mind that is already in his truck. For example, he knows that the Autel scan tool is known to be good on foreign name plates. So when he saw that there was a Volvo in the shop with an airbag light he pressed to make the sale. "They said 'if you have one we'll buy it,'" Jason recounts. "They bought and paid for it that day."

Another strategy Jason uses is lending out scan tools so customers can learn about them. Even if he does not make the sale, he can make notes of what they tell him about it "so the next person who asks, I know which tool does what."
