Some sayings and quotes that help our editor put perspective and insight on topics relevant to automotive repair, and the tool and equipment marketplace.

In writing this column, I often rely on a famous quote or saying to help fuel my thoughts.

So I thought that it might be fun to share some of the sayings and quotes that help flush out my perspective and insight on topics relevant to automotive repair, and the tool and equipment marketplace.

For perseverance in running a shop or performing a repair the right way:

"A leader, once convinced that a particular course of action is the right one, must be undaunted when the going gets tough." - Ronald Reagan, 40th President

For embracing the new technologies of today's vehicles, and the tool and equipment challenges they can present:

"Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open." - Sir James Dewar, Nobel Prize Winning Scientist

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein

On the importance of training:

"In business or in football, it takes a lot of unspectacular preparation to produce spectacular results." - Roger Staubach

"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." - Henry Ford

"While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, the other is busy making mistakes and becoming superior." - Henry C. Link

And finally, just because I like it:

"Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and lesson afterwards." - Spud Items

Happy Holidays and best wishes for a prosperous 2006, from all of us at Professional Tool & Equipment News.
