Neu Tool’s tool fair has sprung up again
It was a quick turnaround for this year’s Neu Tool Fair. However, even with only around six months to plan the event, vendors and distributors alike were happy to return to Waukesha, Wisconsin. Though back in its typical spring time-slot, the show remains at Neu Tool’s new warehouse location.
Troy Beauchamp, president of Neu Tool & Supply, spoke about their new location, saying, “It's just kind of a welcoming atmosphere when we can bring folks into our home and showcase the facility. A lot of the folks that made the trip and are attending the show this year didn't have the ability to come last fall. So, it is a chance for them to get to know us a little bit better, too, when they can be in-house.”
Focal points for this year
One major focus for this year’s show was the updated ordering process for customers. Beauchamp notes that they built a custom app that all the customers have direct access to. This offers them visibility to see how they are trending towards meeting incentives being offered and helps them manage whatever budget they may have set for the event. Overall, it’s meant to improve the customers’ show experience.
Additionally, Neu Tool highlighted their Professional Tool Center business on the show floor. It is their wholly owned subsidiary and has catered to their customers’ tool repair needs for 47 years.
“It's one of those things that's an extension of our service delivery to our customers,” Beauchamp explained. “But it's a growing emphasis for us to make sure that more people are aware that we offer those services as well.”
The importance of the tool fair
In a world that’s becoming increasingly more digital, Beauchamp sees events such as this one as a way to strengthen relationships.
“It's hard to do that by phone or even by video [in] virtual meetings,” he said. “They get to spend time with their customers that they may only see once a year at the show, or suppliers that they rarely get to see, except for when they come to the show. So, the relationship value is worth its weight in gold for us.”
And it isn’t just Beauchamp that feels this way. Neu Tool prioritizes getting customer feedback to ensure the tool fair is giving them what they need. He notes that “One of the biggest points of feedback that we always get is ‘It’s a little bit more intimate of a show.’”
With 80 vendors and around 300 attendees, this allows the customers a bit more time with the suppliers. It allows the customers to learn more about the products, ask any questions, get some hands-on experience with the tools, and better understand how to take the products to market. This amount of one-on-one time isn’t something that can be found at every event of this kind, so the attendees appreciate this opportunity.
Looking ahead
Though the show is currently being held in Neu Tool’s home, Beauchamp did mention that it’s likely that someday the show will be held off-site once more in order to accommodate even more vendors and attendees. However, for now, participants of Neu Tool’s Tool Fair can expect to return next spring.
