Sales Tip: Build relationships with other distributors

Feb. 7, 2019
Bouncing ideas off people who understand your business may help you gain perspective.

Vito Abbinante, a Cornwell Tool dealer based in Chicagoland, talks to other Cornwell dealers in his area multiple times a day.

While he's lucky enough to be good friends with his fellow dealers and district manager outside of work, Abbinante advises everyone to find a person that understands the business and drives you to succeed with some friendly competition during the work day.

"My tip ... for any dealer would be to become friends with your other dealers and talk to them on a daily basis," Abbinante says. "Not all of them. Find one, two. I talk to four people."

Build a professional relationship with distributors outside your territory to gain new perspective and bounce ideas off people that understand your business.
