Sales Tip: Host a training event to boost credibility and sales

April 26, 2017
Training events educate customers on products and gives the distributor credibility as someone connected to resources.

Mac Tools District Manager Robert Tolbert worked with Mac Tools distributor Wilson Gammill and T&K Tools route driver Michael Gordon to coordinate a diagnostic training event for their customers.

The distributors promoted the two-day event as a hands-on training session where tools would be demonstrated and presented by vendors. The event saw around 50 participants and there was an additional $60,000 in sales.

The benefits of a diagnostic training event to a customer are twofold: they allow customers to learn about new products available, and they offer a chance to talk with vendors that manufacture that product. This gives a distributor credibility as someone who has connected them with these resources, and it opens the door for a sale.
