Deciding on a truck: new versus used

Feb. 5, 2015
Shreveport, La.-based Matco Tools distributor Craig Wineinger has learned from the experience of servicing and maintaining a used truck, and now encourages new dealers to purchase new trucks.

When Matco Tools distributor Craig Wineinger first started out, he purchased a used truck from another distributor.

When Wineinger decided to upgrade his truck, he decided to purchase new instead of buy another used truck.

While many distributors have success with used vehicles, especially when sticking to a proper maintenance schedule, Wineinger says he prefers having a new truck versus buying used.

When Wineinger has new dealers ride along with him, he says he encourages them to purchase new trucks, because they don't have to fret over the maintenance from someone else owning it.

Wineinger purchased his 20’ Isuzu new in the summer of 2013. The truck showcases a customizable concept design offered by Matco Tools. He hopes to purchase an even larger (new) truck sometime in the next couple years.
