Bosch Contributes Indy 500 Contingency Prize to Race Winner

Bosch Automotive Aftermarket NA recently commemorated its storied history with the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway in celebration of the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Honoring the milestone anniversary, Bosch contributed a race contingency prize of $50,000 to Alexander Rossi, the 100th winner of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” at Victory Circle on Sunday, May 29.

“Our relationship with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway dates back to the first ever running of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,’” said Tony Pauly, director of advertising and brand management for Robert Bosch LLC, Automotive Aftermarket North America. “We were first across the finish line in 1911 and are pleased to be participating in this great event again in 2016. Bosch has been a part of some of the most iconic moments in Indy 500 history and has witnessed the evolution of the event along the way.”

Bosch’s presence at the Indianapolis 500 dates to the first event in 1911 when the storied Marmon Wasp, driven by Ray Harroun and outfitted with Bosch parts, captured victory at the inaugural race. In the years since, Bosch has continued to provide quality parts and services to Indy 500 competitors, helping to win the renowned race more than 30 times.

The insights Bosch gains from performance on tracks such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway translate to innovation on the road for consumers. Bosch engineers work hand-in-hand with race teams to extract learnings from vehicles after enduring the extreme conditions on the track.

Bosch involvement in motorsports dates to the early 1900s. The company is actively involved in the Verizon IndyCar Series, and other racing events, supplying products and technology to the most successful teams in racing today.
