“I’m honored to accept this award that recognizes the achievements of Midtronics, our exceptional leadership team, and our global workforce,” said McShane. “This year we celebrate our 30th anniversary. I am very proud of the accomplishments of our team and appreciate this recognition of our success.”
McShane founded Midtronics in 1984 with the introduction of innovative conductance-based battery testing technology for the automotive market. Five years later, Midtronics developed the first product for testing stationary batteries in telecommunications systems.
Midtronics is now a worldwide leader in battery management solutions in both transportation and stationary battery markets. McShane, his company, and its staff hold a significant portfolio of 200 worldwide patents and other intellectual property that are at the heart of their products and technologies.
The award also recognized that McShane and his family are actively involved in community outreach. The McShane Family Foundation supports a variety of education-based philanthropies, including Reading in Motion, A Better Chicago, and the McShane Family Hispanic Scholarship Fund in conjunction with the Catholic Education Foundation of the Diocese of Joliet.
“Steve exemplifies how ingenuity in manufacturing can influence an entire industry and have a tremendously positive impact beyond Chicago,” said Karen Kurek, McGladrey’s national industrial products leader. “He is a terrific business ambassador for our city.”
