Monroe Electronic Dampers, Conversion Kits Helping Drive Ride Control Service Growth

Tenneco’s Monroe Shocks and Struts brand is helping automotive service providers increase ride control sales.

Tenneco’s Monroe® Shocks and Struts brand is helping automotive service providers increase ride control sales through an expanded range of solutions for vehicles originally equipped with air or electronic suspensions. The Monroe brand now offers original equipment-replacement electronic suspension dampers for several late-model domestic and import applications, as well as additional suspension conversion kits that enable consumers to replace an air or electronic system with a mechanical suspension.

Tenneco is expanding its line of OE-replacement electronic dampers to cover several additional Cadillac, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz applications. These units help restore the “like-new” performance of the vehicles’ electronic suspensions.

For older applications featuring air or electronic suspensions, Monroe offers a broad range of conversion kits that include all of the parts needed to install a conventional, mechanical suspension. This option is particularly attractive for consumers who want to restore OE-style ride and handling without having to invest in the more expensive components associated with air or electronic ride control systems. Among the latest applications now covered by the line are the Ford Expedition and GMC Envoy.

“Monroe conversion kits have become very popular among consumers who might be the second or third owner of a vehicle and are looking for an affordable yet reliable repair alternative,” said Bill Dennie, director, ride control channel management, North America aftermarket, Tenneco. “We continue to expand this line to include more vehicle models that are now reaching prime repair age.”

Each Monroe conversion kit includes all required shocks and/or struts, springs, mounts, and hardware. For some applications, the kits feature premium, ready-to-install  Monroe Quick-Strut® assemblies.
