Design Engineering completes warehouse expansion
Design Engineering Inc. (DEI), a market leader in the research and development of performance tuning and acoustic products, completed a new 12,000 square foot warehouse addition with a goal to improve efficiencies for warehouse supply and delivery, R&D and office management.
With growing demand for all five product performance product lines – DEI, Boom Mat, Ny-Trex, Radiator Relief and CryO2, DEI utilized available property adjacent to its headquarters to build a new facility. DEI said that all construction is complete and that DEI is fully operational in the new building.
The new warehouse more than doubles in size of the company’s prior warehouse space at their headquarters, located in Avon Lake, Ohio. The 80’ x 150’ x 24' metal and steel beam building features new packaging workstations, all new pallet racking and the latest scales and packaging systems. The majority of the building is devoted to inventory processing with all raw materials and finished goods consolidated in one centralized large area for easy loading and unloading by pallet truck. The shipping and receiving area features new concrete loading docks with added loading zone space to maneuver for speedy distribution.
Dave Markley, DEI president, says, “We are extremely excited to announce that our new warehouse addition is complete and functional at this time. With the growing success of our core thermal and acoustic products coupled with the quick acceptance of our new brand offerings, we flat ran out of space in the original building. This addition will afford us some breathing room as we continue our R&D efforts to add new products and enter new markets. It’s fun to reflect back to our first warehouse space in 1995, which was attached to the back of a convenience store…it was 1,200 square feet. The additional space will allow us to better manage the growth we have been experiencing.”
