Northwood University recently announced the addition of Elgie Bright as assistant professor and chair of the automotive marketing program. He will assume this role due to the retirement of Joseph L. Lescota who held the position since 2000.

According to Academic Dean Dr. Lance Lewis, “I’m delighted to welcome Elgie Bright to Northwood University. His long experience in various aspects of the automotive industry and his passion for helping students learn will maintain the quality and excellence of our automotive programs that Professor Lescota has continued during his tenure.”

Bright earned a B.A. from Adrian College and his M.B.A. from Northwood University. He has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive retail, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket industry. Bright possesses a strong background in management through optimizing key resources, cost controls and maximizing profitability working with retail outlets. He has been instrumental in increasing gross profit opportunities through innovative problem solving and program development.

Bright has held the position of field district sales manager for General Motors for the last 12 years with the responsibilities of implementing market plans for assigned areas and focusing on meeting all strategic growth initiatives. He also has experience as assistant manager for Art Moran Pontiac in Southfield where he acted as liaison between the fixed operations department and General Motors.

Bright is a member of Flushing Rotary, president of Flushing Church Trustee Board and vice chair of Leadership Genesee Community Foundation. He currently resides in Flushing.
