Shops that sell and install Bosch aftermarket parts are eligible for new technical training offered around much of the country this year.

Bosch recently released its 2007 Bosch Auto Parts Specialist (BAPS) program schedule, which covers training for the Eastern, Western and Southeastern regions. Classes and course materials are provided for free to BAPS program participants.

Bosch offers the BAPS program to its more than 8,400 BAPS shops in North America. Shops that participate in the BAPS program are entitled to receive training and merchandising benefits, including point-of-purchase merchandising material, a BAPS identity program and service and technical support information.

There are two training courses offered during the sessions.

BAPS EL1: Electrical. This course covers automotive electrical systems, Ohm’s law and electrical diagnosis, DIN wiring diagrams and wiring circuits as well as battery, charging and starting systems. The only prerequisite is for the person to be an active Bosch auto parts specialist.

BAPS EL2: Electronics. This course discusses transistors, capacitors and diodes, input sensors and output devices, PCM operation, analog and digital functions and also output control theories with voltage, current, frequency and duty cycle. Participants must be an active Bosch auto parts specialist and have completed BAPS EL1.

Eastern Region training is at the Bosch Training Center in Broadview, Ill. BAPS EL1 training is March 19-22, while BAPS EL2 training is May 21-24. This is the only BAPS ELI training on the schedule just released.

BAPS EL2 training in the Western Region will be at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, Calif., from May 14-17. In the Southeastern Region, BAPS EL2 training is Nov. 5-8 at Daytona Beach Community College in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Courses are Monday through Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at all locations. For more information about enrollment procedures, contact the Bosch Training Department at (708) 865-5665. For more information on Bosch aftermarket products, visit www.boschautoparts.com.
