2005 State of the Industry

Jan. 1, 2020
This year's second annual State of the Industry report takes an exhaustive look at the year ahead for every segment of the aftermarket.

‘Tis the year for change, according to our State of the Industry outlook report, a comprehensive yet exhaustive analysis of every segment of the automotive aftermarket — covering manufacturers, retailers, warehouse distributors, jobbers, program groups, independent repair shops, dealerships and consumers. A total of 2,905 individuals from all over the United States, most of whom (with the exception of the consumers polled) had at least 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, completed a detailed online questionnaire.

In our exclusive second annual report, we followed in the footsteps of the industry and made some changes of our own. In an effort to make the report easier to read, we divided up the overwhelming amount of data into key headings, like returns, marketing outreach, training, recruiting, inventory management, online habits and more. The method to our madness included searching high and low for facts that we thought would interest or surprise you, while ultimately educating you on all areas of the industry.
