MAHLE Service Solutions has launched DataLogiq3 (DL3), a portable integrated computing device for electrical testing and module programming for end of line testing in vehicle assembly plants. With no batteries to replace, the device hooks to the steering wheel of a vehicle as it passes through the assembly line.
One of DL3’s most important features is the unit’s ability to flash vehicle modules, eliminating the need for carmakers to tediously pre-flash each one. An integrated controller area network (CAN) monitor analyzes ECU message link traffic. The DL3 also features location self-awareness, based on beacons technology, to auto start tests when the device is in station and to auto power down to sleep mode after testing has been completed. “The DL3 is an easy to use and rugged device that is already being utilized by a major automaker in Europe and Asia,” said Andreas Huber, general manager, MAHLE Service Solutions. “The DL3 is a time and money saving maintenance tool to run end of line software. Already, it has saved this company more than $1 million per assembly plant.” The location self-awareness feature of DataLogiq3 automatically starts a test when the configurable steering wheel hooks and carrying strap are attached to the steering wheel. The DL3’s integrated visual, audible, and wireless alert capabilities provide easy interaction with the shop floor. The DL3 is a fully-integrated PC that can run current MAHLE TestLOGIQ testing software and applications. The low-maintenance device is lightweight and comes in a ruggedized package which can withstand the rigors of a manufacturing environment. The unit has a 7-inch color screen with push buttons for start/abort, various on-screen options, and a barcode scanner trigger. Over 30 million vehicles a year are tested with a MAHLE Service Solutions product in over 25,000 dealer and aftermarket service shops around the world.
