Wilson Auto Parts, an automotive replacement parts distributor with five locations serving northern New Jersey, will implement the Epicor Vision distribution management solution. An Epicor Software customer for more than 20 years, Wilson will upgrade to Vision software from the Epicor Prism platform to take advantage of the solution’s advanced inventory management tools and other efficiency-enhancing capabilities.

A recent audit of Wilson’s daily operations uncovered multiple areas where team members were forced to spend too much time on non-revenue-producing, manual processes. Despite the company’s commitment to “old-school” business value and exceptional customer service, owner Manny Marques and his management staff were attracted to the potential cost savings and additional service capabilities associated with a modern, comprehensive business management platform.

With the company’s implementation of Vision software, employees will no longer have to spend multiple hours each day generating purchase orders, managing inventory transfers, running reports, and issuing or filing invoices and statements. Inventory management is expected to be a key area of savings, both in time and, potentially, capital investment, according to Nuno Barroso, general manager at Wilson Auto Parts. The Vision solution automates inventory balancing activities, allowing users to save time, increase turns, and reduce lost sales. In addition, the Wilson team will implement the Epicor Compass business analytics tool to make faster, more informed buying decisions.

“We expect the Vision platform will be so much easier to deal with and will help us to better maintain our inventory balance,” said Barroso. “Right now, we’re manually creating reports and looking at every single part and comparing to see if there are overages in any of the remote stores, which is the same thing that Vision software will do automatically. That’s huge because we spend a lot of money and a lot of time doing that. This upgrade will stop us from spending way too much time doing things that Vision can handle with the press of a button.”

Wilson also has invested in the Epicor WebDocs electronic document management solution, which will enable it to minimize filing and other paperwork while offering customers 24/7 access to invoices, statements, and other account records.

“We are extremely proud of our 20-plus-year relationship with Wilson Auto Parts, a business that has always focused on growth though exceptional service,” said Scott Thompson, vice president, automotive, analytics and content, Epicor. “We are also proud of the fact that when the Wilson team set a goal to ‘grow beyond’ through even stronger revenue and margin performance, they once again turned to Epicor to get there.”
