Sales Tip: Keep comfort in mind when stocking your truck

While tools are the bread and butter of this industry, clothing and other personal gear help keep your techs comfortable on the job.

When it comes to selling comfort, the best place to look for guidance is in the choices you make everyday. If you're going to work and layering up to fight the cold, be sure to push the jackets you've got on your truck out to customers. Maybe it's hot outside and you're spending the whole day trying to stay cool, consider running a sale on fans or sweat-wicking workwear. Cornwell distributor Jared Hull takes into account the weather and other factors when selling to his customers.

"I've found you can't really put a price on comfort. If it's hot out, selling fans. If it's cold out, selling heated jackets," Hull says. "Whatever you're going to wear to work that day make sure you got that on the truck for these guys to buy."
