MAHLE has elected Dr. Michael Macht as its new supervisory board chairman, effective January 1, 2026, succeeding Professor Dr.-Ing. Heinz K. Junker, after a planned succession process.

The automotive supplier's supervisory board made the decision on Sept. 25, selecting Macht to replace Junker, who is stepping down after 10 years as chairman and nearly three decades with the company. Macht, former CEO of Porsche AG and former Volkswagen AG board member, has served on MAHLE's supervisory board since 2020.

"It has been a great honor for me to serve MAHLE for almost three decades, first as CEO and then as Supervisory Board Chairman," Junker said. "Following the successful reorganization, I see the group well-positioned for the future with its strategy MAHLE 2030+ and a clearly defined product portfolio."

Macht brings extensive automotive industry experience to the role. The Stuttgart-born mechanical engineer started his career with Porsche in 1991, advancing through various positions before joining Porsche's board of management in 1998 and becoming CEO in 2009. He served on Volkswagen AG's board of management from 2009 to 2014.

"On behalf of the entire MAHLE Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Prof. Heinz K. Junker and to express my sincere appreciation for his work as Chairman," Macht said. "In his many years as Chairman, he has guided the Supervisory Board through demanding phases with considerable commitment and expertise."

Junker's tenure spanned a significant transformation at MAHLE. After joining the company's management board in 1996 and becoming CEO six months later, he led the company until 2015, developing MAHLE into a global technology group with more than eightfold sales growth to €11.5 billion.

His leadership included MAHLE's largest acquisition in company history, the takeover of the former Behr Group, which strengthened the thermal management business that now accounts for more than 50 percent of consolidated sales.

"Prof. Heinz K. Junker is a personality who has been closely connected with this company," said Arnd Franz, chairman of the group management board and CEO. "With farsightedness and untiring commitment, he has made a key contribution to the success of MAHLE and most recently guided the company through its transformation with extreme care."

As supervisory board chairman, Junker helped develop MAHLE's current strategy MAHLE 2030+, focusing on electrification, thermal management and sustainable internal combustion engines, along with the recently completed group reorganization.
