“Leadership must take the appropriate and timely action needed to address the fiscal crisis and allow for continued growth and stability in our manufacturing sector and throughout the entire economy,” said Bob McKenna, MEMA president and CEO.

In its letter, MEMA stated that the current fiscal and economic uncertainty the nation now faces will have a significant impact on an industry that survived the recent severe economic downturn and are in the process of recovery.

“Without action, motor vehicle part manufacturers will
be unable to commit financial resources needed to expand facilities, purchase and install new equipment, and hire new employees,” said Bill Long, AASA president and COO.

The motor vehicle supplier industry is the nation’s largest creator of manufacturing jobs and must have confidence in the fiscal and economic climate to continue to prosper.
